Which type of Curl Band should I choose?
Are you unsure which Curl Band to choose?
There are now several providers of heat-free curl bands - also called Curl Bands. You might be unsure which variant to choose, and that's exactly why you should read on here. Basically, Curl Bands are (usually) made of either satin or silk. To the naked eye, it can be hard to spot the difference between the two materials, but it is nevertheless worth knowing.
Silk or Satin?
Silk is a natural material, made exclusively from cocoons of silkworms. Silk's moisturizing properties help nourish the hair so that you avoid split ends and reduce other hair damage.
Satin, on the other hand, is a man-made product with a slightly rougher surface than silk. At the same time, satin does not have the same moisturizing properties as silk. Therefore, the chance of drying out your hair is higher with a satin Curl Band. If you want to protect your hair as much as possible and ensure it retains the right moisture balance, silk is the most obvious choice.
Avoid cheap materials - they do more harm than good
Satin is also a cheaper material than silk, and often Curl Bands in satin are filled with a hard foam-like material. This material is much harder to sleep on than a silk Curl Band, which is filled with cotton. When a Curl Band is filled with a hard material, it also tends to come apart at the seams more easily because of the extra pressure on them.
If you want to keep your night's sleep intact and at the same time maintain hydrated hair, a silk Curl Band is the best choice.
Two different sizes of Curl Band
At Cillouettes, we offer two variants of Curl Bands; Original and Mini. Both versions are made of silk and filled with cotton, making them comfortable to sleep with. If you have a bob to medium-length hair - or just fine hair - our Mini Curl Band is the best choice. However, if you have medium to long hair, we recommend our Original Curl Band.
